Busby Head / Smugglers Cove Track
Busby Head track is an easy loop walk that takes you past the historic gun emplacement at Home Point at the harbour entrance. This was built during World War II as a defense against possible invasion. The six-inch naval gun was aimed with the help of a camouflaged radar station on the ridge above Ocean Beach.
The track starts off at Urquhart Bay and is an easy 1.5-hour walk on well-formed tracks. As you follow the coastal forest track and you will eventually arrive at the beautiful Smugglers Cove. Enjoy a swim and a picnic before heading back over the farmland to the car park again.
This is a fairly easy walk and is perfect if you are bringing the kids! The short one-way detour to the end of Busby Head is well worth the effort but does have a few steep drop-offs.
Direct access to Smugglers Cove is an easy 15 min walk across the farmland toward the ocean.
