Peach Cove Track
Peach Cove Track is a ‘3.5km track starting from the signposted car park located 1 km before Ocean Beach at Whangarei Heads.
Please park just inside the entrance as this car park is a private driveway. Follow the gravelled track up to the ridge and head right at the sign towards Peach Cove. The gravel path and sets of wooden steps descending steeply to Peach Cove. It will take you approximately 3 hours to get down to the sandy Peach Cove and back. Bring refreshments and your swim gear!
This track has lots of steep and narrow steps and is recommended for people who are reasonably fit and agile. A section of the Peach Cove Track intersects with the Te Whara Track. There are a variety of ways you can walk back if you combine these two.
- Follow the signs towards Ocean beach. You will enjoy most beautiful views to the north along Ocean Beach and Kauri Mountain Beach as you descend. It is an approx ten-minute walk back to your car from Ocean Beach
- You can turn left at the ridge above Peach Cove and head towards Urquhart Bay. Enjoy a refreshing swim at Smugglers Cove before walking the 3 km back to your car at the Peach Cove carpark.
The track only goes one way, up and over, so unless you can arrange to be picked up by boat, you must return by the same route.
